The North Tulsa Sports Complex’s 404 permit continues to be under review by the Corps of Engineers. Comments have been received by the City of Tulsa from the Corps and were responded to in March. It appears that additional issues may need to be addressed by the City of Tulsa before the 404 Permit can be issued. Design of the first phase of construction is 95% complete.
The Oxley Nature Center Building Exterior Renovations were completed in December 2006.
Background:
At Mohawk Park, Vision 2025 funds are adding signage, shelters and soccer facilities. Improvements to the facility include two new shelters with restrooms located at the east and west ends of the park, a lighted Mohawk Park sign, new picnic tables near Pielsticker Park, the replacement of picnic tables around the park, new toilets adjacent to the shelters, renovation of restrooms and new roofs for shelters. Soccer fields will be constructed in groups of four and integrated with the park in open spaces to preserve the existing wooded areas.
These improved facilities allow more people to utilize Mohawk Park and are expected to add $2.1 million to the economy each year. Improvements to the park will both enhance the quality of life for area residents and serve as a tourist attraction for area visitors.
